City of Toronto

The city of Toronto offers homeowners low-interest loans of up to $75,000 to cover the cost of home energy improvements.

To get started, follow these 5 simple steps:

1. Complete an application form. Once your application is approved by the city, you will receive a funding offer that states the maximum amount that your property is eligible to receive through the Home Energy Loan Program.

2. Book a home energy assessment with an Energy Advisor. Once the assessment is complete, you will receive:
- A renovation upgrade report with recommendations for specific improvements.
- An EnerGuide rating based on your home’s current energy performance.
- Information on available incentives and rebates

Submit a funding request based on your goals and budget.

3. After having approved your funding request, the city will send a Property Owner Agreement, which you must sign and return to the City.
4. Complete your improvements, book your post-retrofit home energy assessment and submit your completion report.
5. Repay the loan over time via your property tax bill.
