A new branch entirely dedicated to ventilation opens in Laval on Monday, November 12. Strategically located behind the Laval branch on Berlier Street for easy access, this 10,000 sq ft location is designed as a self-service concept which offers a full range of ventilation products under one roof: grilles, sheet metal, fans, accessories, etc.

Improving the quality of our ventilation service and regrouping qualified personnel dedicated to ventilation, are the two main objectives behind this initiative. « This outlet will become the nerve centre in terms of ventilation for the Montréal region. WSL Waltco is the only cooling tower manufacturer in Canada. Their units are all equipped with axial fans and made of galvanized stainless steel with bolted panels welded to the structural. The axial fans are designed to minimize the required driving force as well as noise levels.

As an option, Waltco offers the Medi-Fill® prevention system for an increased protection against the development of microorganisms on cooling towers heat exchange cells. This works by disrupting the metabolic process of bacteria growth at the cell wall level which constitutes a protection of choice against Legionella.

WSL cooling towers are ideal for new installations as well as for retrofit applications and can be assembled on site when access to roof requires it. Master Online Services offer more autonomy now allowing you to manage yourself, as Account Administrator, all your employee accesses (user accounts). Developed for business owners, this new feature has several advantages such as saving time and eliminating delays:

Hundreds of unprivileged children will receive a visit from Santa this year. Master’s 460 employees have joined forces to collect new toys and bring the magic of Christmas in the lives of over 150 children. The drive was conducted in November across the Master network in a gesture of solidarity and generosity, to conclude with an important wrapping session where a personalized gift package was prepared for each child. This first edition of the Master Christmas Workshop is a great success, and marks the start of a beautiful Christmas tradition.

LigneParents and Tel-jeunes are free, confidential, resources which have been supporting Quebec’s youth and parents for 30 years with problems such as violence, isolation, sexuality, suicide and anxiety among the young generation.

The Foundation will soon launch “Jamais seuls” the largest fundraising campaign in its history. This campaign, which will run until 2015, aims to ensure the sustainability of Tel-jeunes and to allow the service to continue to adequately meet the growing needs of young people and their parents.

On October 1st Master launched its brand new electronic commerce platform, a flexible service offering clients the ability to order online anytime, from a range of 20,000 products available the next day. Response was immediate: as soon as the service came online, over 100 clients took advantage of their eCommerce access and placed orders the same day. And since then, everyday, new members are taking advantage of this new fast online ordering service.

It is with great pleasure that The Master Group recently announced the nomination of the very first female Branch Manager within the organization. Indeed, on November 8th, the management of the Dartmouth branch was assigned to Mrs. Tonya Beaton.

Tonya has over 14 years of experience in our industry; she has worked 11 years for a large commercial HVAC contractor in Halifax and for 3 years as an operations manager for a very reputable residential and geothermal contractor. Tonya is recognized in the industry for her professionalism and high concern for customer satisfaction! Providing a complete training program with fully functional products and making it accessible to clients throughout our territory, this is the objective of Master’s new mobile training unit which hits the road in December.

Specially designed and equipped for complete operation of gas powered heating products with regulatory evacuation outlets, this training unit will allow our clients to deepen the basics of installation and operation of the systems and to explore each technological feature for optimal performance.

Trainings can take place directly within the unit, even though the structure is designed to offer the flexibility of moving the equipment inside in just a few minutes.

Equipped with a Rinnai E110CN condensing unit, the mobile training unit will visit clients from the Greater Montréal area in December and, and as of January it will continue on to other regions. Over the course of 2011 many other heating products will take part in this exclusive training tour.

Given the growth and potential of the Saguenay region, Alain Fournier, Executive Vice-President, is proud to announce the opening of a sales office in Chicoutimi, in the heart of a sector with an important concentration of HVAC-R contractors.

Even though this region will still be served by the Quebec branch, this new sales office will now allow the region’s clientele to benefit from a closer support with the presence of two representatives on location.
Dannick Tremblay, who left the capital to return in his hometown, is joined by Nicolas Tremblay, Junior Engineer, a new recruit who will take on the responsibility of Consultant Services.   Nicolas holds a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and he will support our customers with the development and conceptualization of their building and industrial mechanics projects.

This proximity with our Saguenay clientele will result in a better understanding of their specific needs, better support and a better before and after sales service.

The ideal person for this job must like to:

• work in close collaboration with branch colleagues on all inventory aspects;
• supervise and control physical inventory countdowns in branches; 
• provide branch trainings with regards to internal controls and company procedures;
• be responsible for the application of internal measures, company policies;
• and much more.

This week, Master launched a York promotional campaign called “Trash that old heat pump” in the Quebec market. During the month of October, home owners with a heat pump of over 10 years old, are invited to participate in a contest for a chance to win a brand new York high efficiency heat pump, installation included or , as a secondary prize, a trip for two to New York City.  Total value of these prizes over $10,000. This offensive is supported by a promotional campaign on the radio and internet, including highly rated stations in the greater Montreal & Quebec areas and on rds.ca.

New captain of our Kingston team: Tim Wright has recently taken on the responsibility of Branch Director after cumulating 10 years of experience in our industry in an opposing team among others. Professional and especially and concerned for the quality of our service and client satisfaction, Tim has an excellent knowledge of the Ontario market and will be a player to look out for.

In the Maritimes, the management of the Moncton division has been assigned to Richard Long who was named Branch Director after working with the team for over 8 years as an Inside Sales Representative, a well deserved nomination as Rocky Perry’s successor who will now be entirely dedicated to his new role as Regional Sales Director.

We welcome them and hope they have a long career in the Master uniform!

Last June The Master Group announced the acquisition of  LG Commercial AC cooling & heating products which are now available throughout its territory. With the most important available inventory on this continent, everything is set to ensure optimal commercialization of this line.  Sebastien Champoux, Product Director, recently returned from visiting the manufacturer’s plant in Seoul, Korea, where he attended an exclusive innovative technologies training.

“I was completely astonished by my visit at the LG Electronics plant where quality control ensures optimal results and where it is more than obvious that the manufacturer invests constantly on the development of new technologies which, without a doubt, makes him an undeniable leader to watch for in the upcoming years” says Sebastien. Incidentally the Korean giant plans to launch over the course of the next year, the new generation of the Multi V Plus II, currently considered first in its class by our industry. Next month, The Master Group will complete the set up of a laboratory dedicated to the LG line for means of technical training and demonstration intended for our dealers, consulting engineers and contractors.

We are very happy to announce that WaterFurnace, our geothermal supplier, has been honoured at the latest edition of the Dealer Design Awards as a recipient of two first places. The Versatec Ultra Series won the honours in the Commercial Equipment category and the Envision NXW Series climbed the highest step of the podium in the Commercial Equipment category. “This is a nice looking product with great retrofit possibilities. It’s a good size for retrofit – small and compact” said one contractor judge. “The ability to provide hot and chilled water simultaneously provides an excellent alternative.”
