Boucherville, September 12th, 2011
- The Master Group L.P. is very proud to welcome its Québec City customers to our brand new branch which has been completely transformed as of September 2nd. The expansion work began in the spring of this year and gave birth to a modern, spacious and bright environment. With its 30,000 square feet, it is our largest installation throughout the Group’s network of branches.

The new branch has been designed and built based on the growing needs of our Québec City customers and includes a modern layout and new furnishings. The result is more than conclusive: this sales counter presents a very distinct signature with contemporary colors, brightness, refined style and maximized ergonomics.

Everything has been designed to improve service and customer experience: more products in inventory, displays with easier access and ten service counters located together covering all the HVAC-R specialties. A pickup service area with doors has also been installed at the front of the building, along with a « returns and warranties » service counter in the warehouse, and technical service counter on the main floor for quick service and consultations.

A mezzanine style second floor of over 6,000 square feet now hosts the entire sales team. A fully equipped training room for presentations and video conferencing has also been designed to easily accommodate groups of up to 60 people.

For this large expansion, Master has favoured the use of equipment from its major brands including York, Titus and Fabricair, such installations will therefore be available for customer training and demonstrations.

« Our branch has undergone a complete makeover and we are more than happy to serve our customers in an installation that truly surpasses the architectural standards of our industry. », says Denis Papillon, Director of Operations, Québec City branch. « From a cramped area with a low ceiling we’ve moved to a dynamic environment that meets all our needs in terms of service, sales, training and efficiency. »

Solar energy. An unlimited ressource. A dependable technology. A solution for the future, now at Master.

Boucherville, September 28th, 2009
– Concerned about offering our customer base an increasingly large variety of products relying on renewable energy resources, The Master Group is proud to announce the acquisition of three important lines of solar energy products for distribution throughout its network.

In the air heating department, Master is now associated with Luba Solar and Grammer Solar, two names with a solid reputation in the industry. Marketed under the the name "Plug & Save", the Luba Solar air preheating system represents the optimal solution for situations where solar roof mounting is the best option. Simple, robust and light, flexible and easy to install, ideal for air-based heat pump systems.

For its part, the Grammer high temperature solar collector, developed in Germany, is used for preheating and heating of air. This collector, designed for commercial or residential applications, is the most efficient in its category as it can heat air temperature up to 60°C above ambient temperature. When it comes to thermal heating, Master has partnered with Heliodyne, a California based company which made its mark over the past 30 years due to their continued focus on their technology and the dependability of their products. Installers will be delighted with the ease and rapidity of installation and its many features such as online monitoring.

"We are proud to position ourselves, thanks to the acquisition of these three brands, as the sole distributor of solar air and water heating systems in all of Eastern Canada", notes Michel Ringuet, CEO of The Master Group. "Even though solar energy isn’t a new technology, it has been refined over the years to offer most effective performances. The key relies on the accuracy of each system’s performance data: which is how a return on the investment is garanteed and we have all the required resources & equipment in order to reach the expected results. These products, eligible to government grants, are an ideal addition to our existing product lines, such as our geothermal line."

The Master Group begins 2009 with upper management nominations

Boucherville, January 16th 2009
– Michel Ringuet and Louis St-Laurent, CEO and President of The Master Group, have the pleasure to announce three important nominations within its upper management.

To begin with, Mr. Alain Fournier, until recently Vice-President of Sales, is promoted to Executive Vice-President. Active for over 25 years within the company, a tireless worker, Alain has always been a key player in the growth and development of The Master Group. Ever since his early years as a branch Representative, he climbed the corporate ladder and attained the position of Sales Manager in 1993, became a shareholder in 1999 and then Vice-President of Sales in 2006.

To this first nomination, we add those of Éric Lajoie and André Paré, respectively named Regional Sales Vice-President, Montréal and Vice-President, Engineering & Products.

Since his arrival at The Master Group in 1991, Éric Lajoie has successively occupied the positions of Sales Representative, Sales Manager, Montréal and Principal Sales Director, Montréal. His devotion, creativity, good judgement and knowledge of the market make him the perfect candidate to take over the reins of this market.

For his part, André Paré joined The Master team in 1993 as a Sales Representative alongside our engineers; he was later named Director of Commercial & Specialized Equipments followed by Principal Director, Industrial, Commercial & Heating. His professionalism, excellent technical knowledge of the products and reputation within the engineering profession, will serve him well in his new position.

“We are very happy to proceed to all three of these well deserved nominations” notes Louis St-Laurent. “It has been over a year since we’ve begun the implementation of measures to increase efficiency of our operations and these nominations are part of our consolidation plan. By these means, we are empowering our three colleagues with an important decision making authority, which allows them more flexibility and immediate time of response in a context where the turn of events is constantly changing”.

“Because of the current economic situation and its instability” continues Michel Ringuet, “it is now more important than ever, to supply our team players with the proper tools and to support them with leaders who possess the experience, judgement, talent and all the required skills to answer their needs as well as those of our clientele.”

2008 Press Release

The Master Group welcomes Michel Lecompte to head up its refrigeration department

Boucherville, August 21, 2008
– The Master Group is proud to announce the appointment of Michel Lecompte to the position of Technical Director, Refrigeration. Mr. Lecompte will take over the position, recently left vacant by the departure of Marc Gosselin, in mid-September.

“Michel is regarded as one of the leading experts in the refrigeration industry. His experience, credibility, and versatility are definite assets for our company, and we are especially pleased to welcome him to our team,” noted Louis St-Laurent, President, The Master Group L.P. “His arrival here will further strengthen our position as industry leader.”

In fact, with his extensive experience, Mr. Lecompte has developed a unique expertise. His solid background—close to 40 years in the industry—includes numerous major achievements in Quebec as well as outside the province, for a variety of companies, institutions, and organizations: Wild Life Canada, Sobeys Warehouses, Hershey, Couche-Tard, warehouses for fine wines in California, fish drying facilities in Iceland, and even for the United Nations world biodiversity preservation warehouses.

Since his early days as an industrial designer with Blanchard Industries in 1969, he steered his professional career mainly in the direction of research, development and product engineering. He is self-taught, curious, and talented, and over the years has honed his interest, read extensively, consulted a host of sources, and taken a variety of training courses to extend his knowledge in the field.

After serving with companies like Powrmatic in 1973, where he was Director, Air Conditioning, and Blanchard-Ness in 1977, where he was involved in research, development, and product engineering, as well as supervising specifications for highly specialized applications, he went on to found RefPlus in 1994, and remained its President to this day. He also took on the duties of Vice President, Engineering at Dectron International when it merged with RefPlus.

He has been an active member of ASHRAE since 1982, co-authoring numerous book chapters, manuals, and test method standards for the association. He even drafted a number of his publications at ASHRAE headquarters in Atlanta. He currently holds the position of Secretary of the association’s Montreal chapter. “My decision to join Master stems mainly from a desire to seek new challenges and return to the field of distribution: I’d like to get away from the development and engineering aspect and concentrate more on a wide range of technical applications,” Michel Lecompte explains. “I would also really like to pass along all my knowledge in the field, and I feel I could give the young talents at Master a helping hand.”
